Welcome To Playful Paediatrics

We’re Brisbane’s small yet mighty children’s therapy hub based in a beautifully converted Queenslander home.

As speech pathologists, we know play isn’t a distraction from learning; it’s how connection forms, communication feels safe, and real progress begins.

That’s why our space brings together speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology and more in an environment designed to feel familiar, calm and supportive for you and your child.

Where your parenting instincts are trusted, not dismissed.

Our Services

Speech Pathology

Speech Pathology

We support children and young people to communicate in ways that work best for them; whether that’s through spoken words, signs, visuals, voice output devices or a combination of all of the above.

We’re always grounded in play, connection and real-life routines, not just what happens during your session with us.

Because communication looks different for every child, and every child deserves to feel seen and heard.

Collaborative Care

We work closely with other paediatric health services who share our whole-child, neuro-affirming and connection-first philosophy.

Together, we look at communication, regulation, routines and relationships;

so support feels collaborative and responsive to your child’s needs.

Occupational Therapy

For big feelings, busy bodies and sensory overwhelm

For big feelings, busy bodies and sensory overwhelm

We support children’s regulation, sensory needs and everyday routines, helping them feel more settled, confident and ready to engage at home, at school and out in the world.

Psychology

When children feel safe and seen, everything changes

When children feel safe and seen, everything changes

We support children and families by creating clarity, understanding and emotional safety, working alongside psychology when needed to care for the whole child, not just what’s on the surface.

“We’ve tried everything,
but our child isn’t progressing.”

“We’ve tried everything,
but our child isn’t progressing.”

“We’ve tried everything,
but our child isn’t progressing.”

If that thought has crossed your mind, you’re not alone. Many families come to us feeling like they’ve done all the right things: showed up to sessions, practised at home, tried every suggestion. And yet progress still feels slower than expected.

Here's what we want you to know:

A child's development doesn't
grow in straight lines.

A child's development doesn't grow in straight lines.

Children grow in waves.

Sometimes communication looks “stuck,” but underneath the surface, your child’s nervous system is busy building the foundations it needs before the next leap forward.

And that foundation matters.

Progress isn’t about doing more. It’s about feeling safe enough.

Yes, what you do at home makes a difference. The reading, the modelling, the small everyday moments.

But it’s not about getting it perfect.

What matters most is creating safe, connected opportunities where communication feels rewarding, not pressured.

Sometimes the shift isn’t about changing your child.

It’s about supporting the adults around them to slow down, adjust expectations and meet them where they are right now.

A Gentle Reminder

There is no magical strategy. Sometimes what your child needs is time.

Time for skills to settle

Time for their body and brain to catch up

Get Started

If you’ve been showing up, practising, and still not seeing what you hoped for, please know this:

Your efforts matter. You’re laying foundations, even when you can’t see them yet. For some families, that foundation includes support around feeding and mealtimes; because communication, regulation and eating are often deeply connected.

Progress is coming. And you don't have to do this alone.

Alongside individual support, we also offer group meet-ups for children.

These sessions are designed to build connection, confidence and communication in a shared, supportive environment; where learning happens through play, relationships and real-life moments.

Our group workshops are another way we support children to grow, while helping families feel less alone in the process.

Educators

You play a vital role in a child’s development.

We collaborate with educators to support consistency across home, school and therapy, helping strategies make sense in everyday learning environments and through key transitions.

From One Parent To Another

Meet our
founder, Holly.

Meet our
founder, Holly.

I started Playful Paediatrics to create a return to what truly matters in children’s therapy.

A move away from pressure, perfection and “doing it right,” and back to safety, connection and trusting your instincts as a carer.

I believe children don’t need to be “fixed”. They need to feel understood.

When they’re seen and heard, learning can happen. And growth follows.
